FIELD TRIPS
Three times a year, we work with the Arthur D. Healey school to bring their 3rd, 4th and 5th graders to the Mystic Activity Center during the school day to experience interactive, educational performances presented by Around Hear co-directors and guest artists. These field trip performances are preceded by classroom visits, during which we lead art making and storytelling activities related to each upcoming program.

Goals for our field trip program
• To awaken and nurture in Somerville’s youth a curiosity about and love for classical chamber music and the other arts forms we include in our performances.
• To provide student groups an opportunity to practice being a positive, respectful, joyful, open listening community in an intimate, judgment-free, non-school space, during a special time dedicated to arts enjoyment and learning.
• To foster among our city’s youth a sense of belonging and pride in the Mystic neighborhood and our city’s other vibrant public housing communities, as well as an awareness of and appreciation for the individuals and organizations who call the Somerville Housing Authority home.
